Session Information

This year's Summit brings together a diverse cross-section of California's emergency and pre-hospital care community:

Strategic Plan Context & Quality Improvement Conversation

This session will center on Quality Improvement (QI) in EMS, including a Quality Improvement 101 framing to establish shared language and a facilitated discussion about performance metrics that matter most for equity-focused EMS systems.

Community Building & Collective Impact

A facilitator will lead groups through an interactive process to move from loose networks toward a stronger sense of shared identity and purpose focused on equity in EMS.

Documentary Film Screening of Heroes Then, Heroes Now: The Legacy of Freedom House

We're excited to screen Heroes Then, Heroes Now: The Legacy of Freedom House, a powerful documentary celebrating the pioneering history of EMS trailblazers. Produced by Akoma United, Heroes Then, Heroes Now spotlights several CARESTAR workforce partners, including Public Works Alliance and EMS Corps.

I left feeling grounded and clearer

about our role in shaping systems that stabilize families rather than penalize them.

The stories, connections, and strategies shared at the summit will directly influence how we engage with county partners, advocate for care as the first response, and continue building something that honors both healing and accountability.

This was honestly the best conference I've ever gone to. You managed to cultivate a stronger sense of direction and community in six to seven hours than others did over three to four days.

This experience left me with such a strong sense of community as well as clarity — clarity in terms of what I want to do in my personal career as well as the EMS domain as a whole.

The event and my conversations there convinced me to get an EMT (and possibly paramedic, eventually) cert and work in the field.
